RIP in Rishi Kapoor (4 September 1952 – 30 April 2020)
Just a day later Irrfan Khan’s demise, another legendary Bollywood actor leaves this world – Rishi Kapoor. How harsh could this year be, with Covid-19 lock down already affecting lives of billions of people, these sudden succession of deaths of Bollywood stars have left whole entertainment industry in shock. He died on 30 April 2020 from complications with cancer in H.N. Reliance Hospital.

Working as child artist in his dad’s magnum opus – Mera Naam Joker in 1970 and later debuting as adult in 1973 super hit romance drama – Bobby, Rishi Kapoor had one of the best launch in Bollywood. Known to play romantic lead with many new actresses, Rishi played in more than 90 romantic lead roles. There on he had many successful movies as a leading man in movies like Laila Majnu, Rafoo Chakkar , Sargam, Karz, Prem Rog, Nagina, Honeymoon, Chandni, Heena and Bol Radha Bol. Apart from solo roles he had superb hit rate with multi-stars movies like Amar Akbar Anthony, Naseeb, Deewana, Damini, etc . One of the prominent director Man Mohan Desai even said once ‘Rishi Kapoor’ could have easily took over ‘Amitabh Bachchan’ if he was just 6 inches taller.
In later years he started experimenting with different kind of roles. He played as supporting roles in movies like Hum Tum (2004), Fanaa (2006), Namastey London (2007), Love Aaj Kal (2009) and Patiala House (2010). He went on to play different roles in movies like Do Dooni Char, Agneepath and Kapoor & Sons.
n 2018, he appeared in 102 Not Out, a comedy-drama film directed by Umesh Shukla. It brought Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor together again after 27 years. His last release before death was The Body (2019) released on 13 December 2019.
